It was ok got the same experiment as the week before so i still could remember bits of it! When i was looking up a pic to put in here found this one.....

Does anyone remember this cartoon??? used ta always watch this ha!
Ok on a more biomedical science note, we had another exam on Thursday for chemistry! all i can say is thank gawd i did it for the leaving caus all the notes were really helpfull! We had to do physics homework on line b4 12 o clock last night, totally forgot about that untill yesterday.. Got it done though so its all good!
Our class partay was Thursday night, what a laugh! Free jelly shots and pizza what more can i say lik!! Oh ya we had no college yesterday. It was our first Friday off in weeks and best of all we have no lab reports to write up for the weekend woooooooooooop!

Asessment!

It's currently 23.50 on a Wednesday night and that means one thing and one thing only, Chemistry Asessment tomorrow! Im a bundle of nerves as Chemistry is by no means my strong point. Im trying to shorten the entire leaving cert course into 6 weeks worth of learning which isn't fun! Im trying to memorsie so many different equations and theorys that I fear I'm mixing up my Daltons with my Bohr and my lamda's with my frequencies! Speaking of the leaving cert, that's exactly how I feel at the moment. It's like I'm after timetraveling backwards 6 months in time to when I was stressing about the Silly ole Ardteist, now I've got much bigger fish to fry ! I'm nearly getting lost under the mound of paper and books that are in front of me , it's pretty sickening I must say !

Fair Play to all the Albeirt Einstein type character's of old who had to do Chemistry in the old school way , minus calculators and the blessed Wikipedia ! I have all these extra tools a few hundred years down the line and Im just as lost ! The internet is helping though , but it takes years to decipher useful knowlege from all the waffle! Found this video during my search and I must say I had an oul chuckle :) Maybe if I concentrate on memorising this song for the next eight hours instead of learning about the development of the periodic table etc, I might just scrape a pass. Then again , if that plan fails miserably , I can always rely on my fantastic , musical knowlege of the elements to impress at parties , family gatherings etc.......ya right !

Banging Choooon!

1st Lab Practical!!

Well, we just finished our 1st lab practical and I'm very happy to say that my results worked!!!
I was sure I was going to fail when I saw some air bubbles in my p1000 (thats some serious lab talk) but all was well :D I'm an a grade spectrophotomologist, and word maker upper!

This week is only a four day week so we're all a little bit more relaxed, unfortunately we have a chemistry exam on thursday! I can't say i'm too nervous for it though, we haven't done alot of stuff that i haven't seen before, same concepts but now with some fancy names.
Unfortunately our 1st newsletter didn't go down a treat, after lamenating it and everything (Kate is a legend)!
We need less words and more pictures, and here was me thinking it was the other way around, next time we'll be much much better, i promise...

My excuse is that i was out sick most of last week, missed labs and everything! i have a doctors note though, certainly not dossing!!

Lab session depression.

.Thank god it’s Friday ! I’m just about recovered  from the complete mental breakdown i suffered after returning from a horrific day at college! It all started on Thursday evening  to be precise, after enduring the Hep-B vaccine . Now I wouldn’t be a squeamish person in the slightest , but still no person in their right mind would be looking forward to receiving a jab in the arm from the very friendly yet professional cit staff. It wasn’t as bad as I had thought though and left with just a bandage reminding me of the pain endured for science. All was fine until later that evening , when I began to feel nauseaus  and woozy . Bang went my plans to hit the tiles that night and so I found myself in bed at 11.30, feeling quite sorry for myself and quite bitter that I had willingly forked out  58 squid for the privilege of such a feeling, lucky me !
On  the plus side however, I woke up feeling much better  , relaxed and refreshed, ready to take on Friday , which is a stressful day containing two lab sessions and a chemistry lecture mixed in , just for laughs . Our newsletter had been put together by the fantastic  Soracha so was feeling confident about the day that lay ahead, in hindsight , my confidence was most definitely a bit premature!Firstly , I spilled my pasta all the way down my t-shirt at lunch, which gave great entertainment to the surrounding table but meant embarrassment for me for the rest of the day !

Had stress of all stresses trying to get the newsletter  printed off , as the printer decides to be out of order  ! Then to top it all off I couldn’t quite grasp the calculations for the titration experiment in the Chemistry Practical which meant at five to five , I handed up the finished result, last in the class and I’m 100% positive that my calculations are a disaster !
As you can see , I had gotten myself into quite a state at this stage and after spending another half an hour in the computer labs with Kate, we still couldn’t quite figure out the newsletter situation. I left college on the brink of tears and arrived home in foul form. After such a bad day I had convinced myself that I am the worst biomedical science student to ever cross the threshold of EITHER UCC or CIT, and that’s saying something ! I realised that I seem to be struggling in every aspect of the course and found myself wondering whether I had make a huge mistake  choosing this course ? As I have mentioned in previous blogs, our team mate and good friend Katie has pulled out of the course as she found immediately that it just wasn’t for her. After the day  I had, I began wondering whether  I should follow in her footsteps or struggle on a bit longer and see if I find my feet. In the depths of despair I did the only thing that seemed logical , I had a bath!
I steeped in there for a good hour I’d say and emerged clean and wrinkly, with a new perspective on this college buzz. I made a decision that I’m not going to give up until I’m literally escorted from the premises ! It’ll take some hard work and I probably won’t have a very great social life for the next couple of months  but  I think I can do it . Fingers crossed anyways...
Kites fly highest against the wind, not with it.....

Soppy stuff I know guys, but anything to get me through the assessments next week eeek !
Apologies  for the ridiculous length of this post , better out than in

Newsletter eek:)

Well tommorrow, tomorrow, tomorow ...ahem , FRIDAY, is the day we have to hand up our completed Newsletter ! Am stressing out about it to be honest but we have divided the work into parts so hopefully it will be manageable enough! It was my job to take care of the article section of the newsletter which led to me spending hours and hours searching the internet for interesting, topical subjects that our "loyal readers" want to read about! It was during this what seemed like endless searching that I happened to come accross this article ..

http://www.allvoices.com/contributed-news/6935197-toasted-skin-syndrome-to-skin-cancer-from-warm-laptop

Yes, thats right ladies and gentlemen , using your laptop can lead to a disease known as toasted skin syndrome or even skin cancer ! So yes, in order to produce a flawless newsletter I am required to risk my life searching for a story and typing it out in my own particular stlye. And after this, I risk my life yet again to post another top-class blog entry! At least nobody can ever say I'm not dedicated to my course I suppose ! Since I am technically risking my life by even typing my newsletter , I hope that this huge sacrifice on my part doesn't go un-noticed and recieves a good mark ...( major hint there by the way :) )
On the other hand , I suppose I could be less dramatic and invest in one of these babies for myself....after I all, they do happen to be sold in the very shop that happen to work in :)

So after informing you on the EXTENSIVE health risks involved with my decision to publish a newsletter, I'm sure you're just dying to see it! Tough luck , our official posting date isn't untill tomorrow so check back here for a look at THE NEWSLETTER to have .

Hellooooo! We finally started physics labs this week which i was dreading but it actually wasnt that bad. We just dealed with springs and weights for about two and a half hours! The worst part of it though is writing up them reports uuuuuugh so annoying. At least these labs are every second week woop!

Got the Hep B vaccine on Friday. I got some shock when she said the first seven had to go and get it( i was one of the first seven people!)

But it was ok didnt feel a thing! We have a biomedical practical on Monday... so dont wanna do it, the maths are relly tricky for it! Ok i better go get stuff for the newsletter for CMOD byeeeee!

Hep B vaccine!

The part i was dreading arrived this morning! During our cell biology lab, Lesley Cotter announced that our hep b vaccinations were ready! And lucky Soracha ENRIGHT Ward was part of the 1st bunch!
I was so nervous in the waiting room of the medical centre, and was one of the lasft to go. Finally got to sit in with the nurse, who finds out i have a fever and cant get the shot, all that worry for nothing! Although now i'm worried why i had a fever and didnt notice, maybe it has something to do with the stabbing pain in my side and back...hmmmm

Safe to say I'm a little bit creeped!

Important Phrase : Time Management

When they said college life was going to be hectic , i must admit i didn't really believe them . How wrong was  I ! My life for the past few weeks has been a blur of lectures, lab reports , working and the odd hypnotist thrown in for good measure:)  Ive been so exhausted lately I barely have the energy to hit the tiles very often , shock horror ! On top of all this , I've decided to add more activities to my diary by joining some clubs :) Started this week off in a kick boxing class of all things ! Was nervous starting as I'd never done it before but it turned out to be some laugh ! Am paying for it now though as I'm hobbling around the place like an aul wan :)

Am also planning on going to a few dance classes , so should be interesting seeing how i'm going to juggle everything. Don't stop till you drop i suppose?
Everythings falling into place ( well almost ) in regard to lectures and labs etc. Nearly jumped out of my skin when we were told that we have one more biomedical science lab before our practical assement ! I feel like ive only just arrived and Im being tested on skills I may or may not have mastered yet. At least everybody around me feels the same way , it's reassuring when you have worries only to discover the person sitting next to you is freaking out about the exact same thing:)

Hellooooo the fourth week of college is nearly over and i cant remember half of it because it went so fast!

I went out last night so im seriously wrecked today but i think im used to it now! I have finally started to cook proper food so no more chips and pasta.
Physcis labs are starting in a few weeks so thats Wednesday evenings gone. We had biology and chemistry labs Friday. In biology we looked at cheek cells and onion cells. That was kinda good seeing as we did that in secondary school although i nearly fell asleep on the table after thursday night. Going to sleep at half four in the morning is not a good idea when you have labs the next day!

On Monday we had another biomedical lab and i have to say the maths are really tricky in it. There is  actually alot of maths on this course. Im not liking that! Oh ya i went to kickboxing again on Monday evening. Its sooooo fun! At least my legs are not sore after it this week.

Happy Birthday to me!!
I am officially the oldest, non mature student 1st year :D...I'll be heading out to buy wrinkle cream now in a while!! I turned the big 2-oh over the weekend, hence my post being a wee bit late!
And as a birthday present to me we get to finish early today, 4 instead of 6 ohlé :D

So, on a more biomedical note, i've found someone to interview for our newsletter, which will hit the presses friday week, very exciting altogether! Her name's Carmel O'Brien and she's in 3rd year, and is one of the nicest, positive people on the plannet. I've scored well! At the start of the module i did find the thought of producing the newsletter pretty daunting but having broken it up into pieces and delegating like the awesome team leader i am its ok! (i'm just so modest amn't i?!)

I've been complaining about the early starts a little bit in the blog, but i've actually gotten used to it! Although my daily starbucks does help. Thank you caffine :D
Thats all i have to say this early on a monday morning really... nothing too wild has happened just yet.
I'll keep you posted though!
